Clinical Aromatherapy and Cancer Care

When working in the cancer and palliative care environments, we encounter patients with symptoms affecting their quality of life. Many of these symptoms respond positively to the use of essential oils and related products. Thus it is no surprise that aromatherapy and massage are the two most demanded complementary therapies in these specialist environments.

This One Day course explores issues that commonly affect quality of life for chronically ill patients with a view to providing an evidence-based and practical perspective as to the role of essential oils and different mediums/bases.

The course also aims to promote discussion and networking amongst practitioners working with essential oils in cancer and palliative care environments.

Practical issues that will be discussed within the class include:

1. Skin integrity
2. Pain relief
3. Mouth care
4. Malodour
5. Nausea and other digestive disturbances
6. Respiratory distress
7. Fatigue
8. Depression, agitation and insomnia
